The Vergelegen Dietitians Team
Our dietitians specialise and are trained to manage a variety of diseases requiring nutrition therapy. Each of our dietitians consults patients with insulin resistance, Type II Diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, or those who are overweight or obese. In addition to this, each dietitian has their own particular area of interest or expertise. You can therefore rest assured that you will always be treated by the most qualified and experienced dietitian.
RD (SA, UK) BSc Diet, M Nutr (US)
Marlene is a registered dietitian (RD SA, UK) who recently returned from the United Kingdom as the managing member of Vergelegen Dietitians. She spent 8 years in the UK mainly specialising in gut disorders and paediatrics. She worked for 5 years at the world renowned Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London where she dealt with gastroenterology, gut surgery, neonatology, cardiology and critically ill children and infants. She obtained her Masters Degree in 2006. She has a keen interest in the areas of gastroenterology, paediatrics and women’s health and is excited to share her experience with her colleagues of various professions.

Saskia qualified at the University of Pretoria in 2009 and joined the Vergelegen Dietitians team in 2014. After finishing her studies, she worked at Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital in Pretoria where she gained valuable experience in internal medicine, surgery, and critical care. After moving to Cape Town, she entered the private sector where she mainly focused on the nutritional management of patients with insulin resistance, dyslipidaemia, diabetes, cancer, and inflammatory bowel disease. Since 2015, Saskia has been the lead clinical dietitian at Vergelegen Mediclinic and is especially passionate about nutrition support in critically illand surgical patients. Additionally, she conducts the DNA diet testing and consultations at the practice.

Donnay is a registered dietitian (RD SA, UK) who recently returned from the United Kingdom after spending 9 years there, gaining valuable dietetic experience. She worked for 8 years at the UK’s largest private hospital, The Wellington Hospital, where she dealt with both inpatients and outpatients and covered various specialities including gastroenterology, critical care, bariatrics, surgery, neurology and endocrinology. Donnay is our lead clinical dietitian at Busamed Paardevlei Hospital, and also sees outpatients at the practice. In addition to this, she also does nutritional consultations at retirement homes for patients who require nutrition support.

RD (SA) BSc Med Hons, Clin Diet (US)
Tanelle qualified at the University of Stellenbosch in 1999. After 3 years of student training and lecturing, she started to work at Grootte Schuur hospital where she was promoted to Principal Dietitian. At this State hospital, she gained valuable experience in critical care, trauma, surgery, cancer, eating disorders and internal medicine. After starting a family, she resigned at the hospital and started to locum at Vergelegen Nutrition Center, where her focus was on the nutritional management of renal patients, athletes (being an athlete herself) and disordered eating. In 2009 she opened a practice in the Strand, where she mainly saw overweight and insulin resistant patients.
Tanelle joined the practice permanently in 2016 and is currently seeing patients at Busamed Paardevlei hospital and out-patients at the Vergelegen Dietitians practice.

The Administrative Team
Tracy has been with the practice for many years and is well known to many of our regular clients. She is responsible for the administration of practice accounts and medical aids. She is also in charge of stock purchases and orders. She helps out in the afternoon at reception. Tracy continues to deliver an outstanding service and is the link that ties the practice together.
Tracy Ludick joined our practice in 2016 as the friendly face in reception. Her friendly demeanor, positive attitude and contagious smile will never fail to disappoint. She handles client bookings, telephone queries, product sales and more. She makes sure the dietitians’ diaries run smoothly and gives an outstanding service to our clients.
Natalie is the perfectionist and helps to run a well-oiled machine. She has a great eye for detail and is meticulous and diligent in her work. She is responsible for generating patient reports and doctor’s correspondence with our doctors and multi-disciplinary team. She also supports the rest of the admin team with their duties.
